Learn to Earn was developed by UGM Special Projects Co-Ordinator, Korena Zietsman. Workshops were lead by Marie Lavallee. Upon completion of ten hours of sewing workshops with Marie, participants are rewarded with a sewing machine of their own to create with as they wish. Together, Korena and Marie want to continue to foster self-esteem and inspire women to become their own leader.

it takes a community

Last year Marie was featured on the front page of Union Gospel Missions's Gratitude Magazine, which included a centre fold of her story, 'Threads of Therapy' highlighting how sewing, to her, was empowering and therapeutic.

Since then, Marie has been interviewed by numerous media and news outlets.

Marie continues to volunteer serving food at The Sanctuary and teaches the ladies to sew to help re-build self-esteem. She also continues to find ways to give back to her community.

Give Back

SEWCIALIZE is grateful for many projects and partnerships currently in the works, and is always up to making new friends.

Check back regularly to stay up to date and find out where you can hang out with Marie LIVE this summer.
